Man Parrish – Water Sport
From Man Parrish – Brown Sugar
Released on Select Records, 1987, US

Whether you know him or not, we’re sure you’ve already heard many things recorded by New-York legendary electro producer Man Parrish, but what about his ambient work ? A few months ago, we did not even suspected that this man had released this kind of delightful ambient tunes. We stumbled across Water Sport thanks to a very useful tip by a man whose knowledge of recorded music is not to be questioned .

Water Sport is a quite early example of CAM (Computer Assisted Music), for « All instruments are played by Macintosh Computer programmed by Man ». As a matter of fact, both the music and the way it was recorded point out how « proto-vaporwave » this song is… There’s even a dolphin on the sleeve, in case this is not obvious enough !

Fake field recording of frogs, synthetic choirs and flutes and heavy delay : Water Sport is an invitation to escape from your office to take a nap in a digital paradise, without leaving your desk.
