Iury Lech – Here Comes Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes
From Iury Lech – Victima Of Dunceing
Released on Insolit, 2001, Spain

Many of you may have heard of Iury Lech‘s mind blowing computer-assisted second album, Musica Para El Fin de Los Cantos, featuring the ambient banger Barreras. However, the popularity of this record – which will get a reissue very soon on Cocktail d’Amore  – somehow eclipsed the rest of his work, with some of it being also released on the Spanish label, Hyades Arts, specialized in releasing music from media artists, such as El Sueño De Hyparco, or Iury LechUnfortunately, the recent news concerning the Ukraine-born Spanish artist’s music were not followed by some kind of interviews or anything that would have help have a broader view on the context in which Iury Lech made music.

Though barely known compared to the music he released in the early 1990’s, Iury Lech‘s latest works should not be underestimated. Released in 2001, Victima Of Dunceing, contains some great dubby tunes, with a bit of glitchy IDM flavor to it.

As one of the standout tracks, Here Comes Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes clearly has got identifiable elements from what we’ve heard of Iury Lech‘s music : the weird digital sounds and samples which come and go, as if the song was just a place to pass by, without beginning or end and, of course – and that’s maybe why Iury Lech became so popular lately – this tune definitely has that unique druggy feeling, which gives Iury Lech‘s compositions their opiate powers.
