The Comforters – Immortal Words
From The Comforters – Month-End Lover
Released on Leopard Records, 1986, South-Africa
First post in a while and we are back with an extract from one of our favorite records from South-Africa : Month-End Lover by the super great bubblegum band The Comforters. Immortal Words is a strong example of the influence of reggae on South-African production.
Taking advantage of the political strength that roots reggae can easily display , Immortal Words showcases one of the heaviest bubblegum sound of the mid-1980’s : sharp as hell synthesizers and super tight drum programmation that provide this dry synthetic sound that we love, backing nagging and spiritual vocals.
This album is definitively a great introduction to the synthetic sound preceding the boom of house music in South-Africa ! We also highly recommend you to listen to the amazing title song…
